METAFORA
COFFEE TABLE
Since its first presentation at the Salone del Mobile in 1979, the Metafora table, designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli, has fascinated with its aesthetics, choice of shapes and materials. No detail created for this object is random, but everything is linked by a precise thread of meanings and historical references. The four shapes of Euclidean geometry: Cube, Cylinder, Sphere and Pyramid, in four different marbles, form the base of the table completed by a large sheet of transparent glass
DESIGN vs FASHION
What united us was a passion for technology, as well as for high-performance materials, in the use of which adidas has always been a master. What convinced me was the unique opportunity to take a journey into the manufacturing techniques of the future, which then represents my idea of fun’. This is how industrial designer Tom Dixon explains his collaboration with the German brand, which led to the creation of a mini-collection, The Capsule, a functional ‘survival’ kit for a week away from home (source Vogue Italia)
asymmetrical bitters
When Thomas Heatherwick began his study of geometric shapes and their possible rotation, the question arose in us at Magis: can you make a chair out of this? In order to find an answer, it was necessary to break down the stereotype of a chair made of a seat, back and legs and combine all the elements into a single profile. The result is a sculptural object that is also a comfortable chair. Eleven years after its launch, this playful armchair has become a classic in the contemporary design scene.
