BLAMK WALL CLOCK
Wall clock, Alessi, BLANC WALL CLOCK, Martì Guixè, 2010.Wall clock in aluminium, white. Incomplete, with pen for customizing the hours.
Dimension: diam. cm 40 – h cm 5 / diam. 15” – h 2”.Martí Guixé (Barcelona 1964) describes himself provocatively as an “ex-designer” emphasising his aversion to the stylised and formalistic approach of our discipline. Rather than always trying to reinvent some new form that fits into traditional interpretations of function within existing typologies, Martí engages in the practice of researching new ways of looking at objects, of thinking about them and methods that can encourage peoples’ active participation and spirit of reinvention. He is one of the most interesting exponents of contemporary critical thinking about design, but his work shows no signs of moralistic overtones. On the contrary, it takes on the playful connotations characterised by his paradoxical approach, which is both highly personal and friendly. Artist; author of installations and performances; shop designer; creator of illustrated books; he was also, in the 90’s, the first designer to work on the topic of food design… and he is also a real product designer, as we are trying to demonstrate with this collection.
«Objects have become tools for perceiving reality of every day, and also for communicating not only with objects, but also with other people through the objects. This collection is based on new typologies revolving around this concept».
