Multi Use wall panel, Design Apparat, SECRET, Mirko Tattarini, 2009. Dimension: cm 168x60. A contemporary revisitation that brings the insurmountable allure of the capitonné to a new life, enacting potential functions that go beyond the standard use as a cover for objects and surfaces. SECRET is a plywood panel lined with shiny, capitonné eco-leather and equipped with functional buttons internally lit with LED. A series of screw-on steel accessories provide the implementation of various functions, such as clothes rack, umbrella holder and pocket-contents receptacle. The inspiration for the concept is evocative, being drawn from the capitonné that still lines the doors of many government buildings in Bulgaria. Though since fallen in disuse, it was a practical approach to soundproofing rooms and homes, so as to keep vices and secrets not fit for disclosure within four walls.
